Hey there,
My name is Eric Carl and I’m interested in meeting nice people as friends or more, who are kind and can add warmth to my life. I’m originally from Portland and I recently moved back after having been away awhile. I spent the last ten years chasing my career and promotions while living in Seattle and Chicago. Now that I’m back in Portland, I’m so grateful to be home again. I work as a bank fraud analyst producing reporting for executive management right now but my dream is to pursue acting. I recently finished an acting class and I plan to continue taking classes and see where that goes.
I’m an active person and I like to take care of myself with diet and exercise. I was born and raised on tennis and loud rock music. Music is my greatest passion – I love going to shows and all the excitement. Nothing else exists in the world during a good show for those two hours. A great show can unite thousands of euphoric strangers at the same time and place and there are no differences between anyone. I enjoy comedy shows a lot too. Some of my favorite comedians are Paul Mooney, Sam Kinison, Bill Maher, Dave Chappelle, Katt Williams and Sarah Silverman. I love to make friends laugh – that always makes me feel good. That’s the best. To me, making friends laugh is like sharing and it’s my favorite way to be generous. But maybe the best way to be generous is to listen.
I volunteer at a local grade school mentoring underprivileged kids in an Adopt a School program. I have a long history of doing volunteer work since high school with hospitals and grade schools, working with kids at a community center, at a pediatric unit in a Seattle hospital and with an animal shelter there too. Animals were definitely the most fun to work with and I still donate to animal causes. I believe we must use our hearts to care for those who are weaker, more vulnerable or less fortunate than us. That it should not be a chore but a joy to do that. To do the best we can to channel the fullness of our compassion.
My work ethic tends to be pretty strong; my ambitions are focused on forward progress and growth, moving upward and onward. I enjoy learning and I’m curious about a lot of different subjects. I often take very diverse classes such as kickboxing, real estate, meteorology, massage therapy and most recently, an acting class. I watch a lot of documentaries and biographies, especially of people who have faced tremendous adversity. For the better, my life has run a full gamut of lows and highs so I have a strong sense of what I like and dislike, what types of people I want around me….and what types of energy or life force that I want around me.
My favorite movies right now are Before Sunrise & Before Sunset; they’re a part one and two of the same story – you won’t be disappointed! Animal Planet is my favorite channel – I also love the Soprano’s, the Muppet Show, watching my Oregon Ducks, following the Blazers (even if they can’t close the fourth quarter), Real Time with Bill Maher, the Sarah Silverman show, Big Cat Diary, IFC & TCM, etc. I like to read but I have a hard time sticking to one book the whole way through.
I like to fall asleep to the sound of rain and I appreciate the beauty in the world. I have a deep admiration for nature’s subtle mysteries…the sunset you know you’ll never see exactly the same way again, that there’s never going to be another of. Or ocean waves that look greener than usual…the rainbow you can never find the end of…the electricity under my skin, the rush when I hear my favorite songs. The uncertainty in fate…how two people can miss meeting each other by seconds. People watching is fun too, especially watching people parallel park, in awkward situations or trying to look cool. And I’m a huge fan of key lime and lemon meringue pie….if you can make those; you have a new friend in me!
My favorite place is the Oregon coast. I love lighthouses and the beaches at Gleneden, Heceta Head and Florence. I spent most of my summers there so I guess I’m kind of a beach bum. I like to hike Mt Rainier and the Columbia Gorge and go snowboarding at Mt Hood. I haven’t done much international traveling but I plan on changing that soon. My first destinations will probably be Sweden and Ireland.

Sooo, anyway I thought I would give the lovingyou family a taste of how I met my soulmate.
I'll start with 5 months ago...
5 months ago, I overcame depression and self-harming. Which I had struggled to have 6 years previous, in that time I had boyfriends that broke my heart, that I thought I loved but really infatuated with.
About 4 weeks after overcoming my goal, I came across this group on facebook "Ever looked at your Ex now & thought WTF was I thinking" I joined it because who doesn't! I checked out the discussion board, that said "As far as ex's go, I think I win." So, I clicked on it & read what this guy had to say.. I had a really good laugh out of his Ex's and so I added him. Wanting to become friends with him & possibly more details of his Ex's :P
Anyway, the next night he accepted me and we began speaking.. I learned that he lived in America, had lived in Australia before, also extra details.. We spoke for a few hours because I had school in the morning. He asked me if I would be online tomorrow and I replied with "Yes".
Next day, after I came home from school.. We started talking more, we exchanged extra details to each other.. And learned more. We met on the Sunday night, and on the Tuesday night.. He kept me up, until about 10pm at night. He told, "I've only just met you, and it feels like I've known you a lifetime.. but I have a crush on you -flees!-"
I told him, I feel the same way about him. He asked me what do you want to do about it? I told him we'd talk it tomorrow because I really needed to go to bed. We said our good nights & that I would speak to him in the morning..
No word was spoken for 2 days about how we felt, mind you I still feel bad to this day making him wait that long, in case he thought I was just saying it.. On the Thursday night, he confronted me about it asking me how would I feel if we started dating I replied with "I think we should start dating, even though it's long distance." 4 days and we'd had started dating :P
To this day, 4 months into dating it is one of the best decision I've ever made. Not only, has he made me a happy person, he has shown me what it feels like to be really loved & to love someone back. He's amazing, he understands me better then anyone, and when I see him I just know we are meant to be. I thank God every day, that I have him in my life.&nbsp

Where to begin? I live in the beautiful state of Oregon, USA. I'm 54 years old. I'm athletic, exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. I was raised with and adhere to Christian beliefs, although now I'm more spiritual than religious. I respect all religions. I work in the health care industry.
After nearly 28 years of marriage, I never thought I'd be looking for another partner, much less on the internet, but here I am, having lived a mostly happy life so far and also having raised two wonderful, beautiful daughters. I'm hard working and sometimes driven to achieve my goals. Providing for my family has always been a top priority, as has financial stability. Leisure time spent with family or that special someone is very important to me. I have family and friends in several countries, so travel is definitely on the agenda. I speak English, Deutsch, y en peu Francais.
I try to live a healthy life style that includes activities such as camping, swimming, cycling, hiking, canoeing, fishing (mostly ocean, some river and lake), boating, white water rafting, sailing, and trail and beach riding. I also enjoy gardening and working on home projects. I'm usually pretty organized but don't mind a little spontaneity thrown in just to keep things interesting. The dance floor has never been my forte, but with the right partner to teach me, I'd be willing to give it a go. I've also had the good fortune to be able to crew and sail (2-3 week stints) on a few tall ships (square riggers and schooners. I'd do it again in a heartbeat and being able to share the adventure with that special someone would make the experience that much more enjoyable.
